More about Stanislavski
Today, Ms. Guarino let us watch 3 videos what other people had discovered in the Stanislavski system. While the first video, the man said it’s essential to know the meaning behind the words than just memorizing the lines. People should also comprehend the deeper meanings and ask themselves like why am I doing this. Also, people got to understand what do they need to convey to the audience. In the second video, the man said it's vital to express the emotion, not just play your feelings, but actually, express it. In order to have the emotions, people should feel the backstory. There will be some pushing events that push things to happen in some way, so people should discover it and use it as to express the volcano emotions in the show. In the last video I saw, the woman said in the theatre work, people should already recite or memorize the feelings and lines, so when they meet, the entire group is going to talk about the blocking, so people should learn their lines first; the director will not give the blocking as they memorizing the lines at the same time.
The first video was about a man said he is an actor, but he also studies something that was not from the theatre school but from his experiences. He then mentioned that he was going to count 78 seconds so he will say as many as he can in 78 seconds about the specific idea. Then, he said when he was in the audition, he finds out that it’s better to acknowledge the emotion first; after that, people can learn the lines. But the most important thing will be asking you that why am I here, and what is my goals and how can I achieve it. So when you get this, it will be much easier. Well, this one is normal, not that hard and not that easy, because we should comprehend the overall emotions first, but what if we couldn’t understand it, then, it’s kind of difficult.
The second video was from the same person but different video aspect. He also thinks that people should naturally express their emotions either by volcanic eruption or waterfalls which are slowly express or strongly and quickly explode. He thinks that people couldn’t play the emotions or feelings, but this one is kind of hard to me because sometimes, I couldn’t get the emotions from the story, so I would just fake my feelings, and it would be so unreal to the audience and the actors.
The third video was a woman; she is saying what they would do in the theatre school like there is a show coming up, so everyone in the drama was so busy, and they had rehearsal a few days later. She said that they would just first memorize the lines and emotions on their own because their character sheet is here and they need to remember the lines in the play. well, I feel like it’s kind of different in that school and in our school because we go to practice every day, and the director looks at the play and correct our blocking everyday, so we know where to stand.
