Reflect my presentation
I did my presentation on Friday which is later than my classmates because I wanted to take my voice lesson again on Thursday. Then, I asked Ms.Guarino for one day extension. However, I tried my presentation three times in the lecture hall on Friday.
I think I really did a bad job in my presentation.
First of all, because I didn’t count the full time of doing the whole section before: I only counted for each of section and added to the time of 15 minutes. Then, it has some misleading of myself, thinking I can do less than 15 minutes. So from this experience, I would actually do more practice of entire speech in the room just to make sure I will not pass the time. Later on, I would do more practice in the room by going every single one. Also, I was reading from the paper in the dorm so it won’t take that long of doing the presentation, yet in the real presentation, we must look at the audience as well. What’s more, on the stage, we, as the students, are more nervous. Every time we would stammer on stage because we knew the time limit, wanting to say more in sections. Then, it would probably take longer on each section on the stage rather in the room. According to the IB rubric, we cannot look at the notes for the whole time. Moreover, I think I spend so much time on the background information- the first part, so I don’t have enough time to explain other parts. It took so much time on explaining the Red Boats and the Four skills, but I think I should spend more time on the performances and the last part of the presentation because that’s what the IB wants to see. The feelings that we actually got from doing this presentation. I didn’t actually have time to expand why I am doing the Cantonese Opera because there is no time left. I didn’t have that much time on explaining my feeling. Furthermore, because I was so nervous. I forgot to go to the next slide. My only hope was to finish my presentation in 15 minutes. As a result, I had forgotten to actually turn to the next slide. I even forgot to show the last slide of my sources. Another problem is I wrote too much, but I didn't circle the notes that I wanted to emphasize the most, so when I looked at the notes, I spent more seconds on reading my sentences.
