Script analysis write-up
Script analysis write-up: What strategies did you use to analyze your script last week and what did you find from that technique? Also, how did you revise your piece based on the findings? 300 words. Post on the blog.
From our performance of devised theatre, we realize that we haven't had that much movements or upbeat events that stimulate our plot. Nevertheless, I think we had a lot of conflicts in our script or our plot, but sometimes we couldn't get it out by acting it out, so Ms.Guarino gave us many suggestions we can do to make it better. As year 2 theatre, our plot is like I am a hard-working worker in a souvenir shop: working hard because I want to look forward in my future. However, I have a lazy roommate who never thinks about the future but figuring the present. We then have several arguments about what should my roommate does for herself and for me. Yet, she never listens to me, and that's when she moves out; my life seems awesome without her, but actually, I am so alone without her. We used beats and emotions to create our script. Firstly, we utilize beats to see is it the upbeat moment in the scene. For example, in Scene 1, I am happy about what I am doing, so the overall of me, the light and the sound might be upbeat rather than feeling normal, doing nothing. Nevertheless, when I came back home and saw my roommate stayed at home, the beats can be little down since I suspect my roommate not working in her job. On the morning of that day, because she lies to me about working, the tension between us can be real; I want her to work, but she only wants to stay with her friends and plays games with them. As a result, the beat there can be intensive as we don't trust each other. Then, the climax will be when my roommate judges me of not having any friend to rely on, but her. I then cannot tolerate her words anymore: the words hurt my feelings. This is when the biggest fight happened. Until I said the last sentence of "Just do it". The tension there is the most intensive, which results in the most beats. As she left the house, the beat can slow down a little bit to express my sad mood. For the emotion, It's kind of similar, but we have a different representation of the different mood, like the joyful mood in the beginning. However, angry and disappointed can be in it after I talked to my roommate, realizing the outlying perspectives and personality between her and me at the end.
